Sun Wukong Illustrative Zine
Artist Statement
The communication objective was to portray the mythological figure, Sun Wukong, in a knowledgeable and illustrative style in a zine format. The illustrations in the zine showcases the different appearance that Wukong takes in his evolution stages in his lifetime. The aim was to tell a brief story of Sun Wukong and how he was a significant monkey figure in the Chinese mythology.
Process
The illustrations in the zine was produced by sketching and shading it out manually by hand and then applied to Photoshop for colour enhancement. The informative body text's typeface was generated using the type tool in Adobe Illustrator. The sketches was done on A5 paper, which covers the two-page spread of the zine. The only constraint that i worked with was maintaining the drawing size so it would fit on an A5 page.
